• We warmly invite you to join us on a focused, intuitive and embodied research journey: the _subskin_lab_ from June 7th to June 8th 2025 in Leipzig.

The subskin_lab combines artistic intervention with somatic exploration. We will move, dance, focus on bodily sensations, we will draw, collage and bring our artistic works into context. We will also share what we experience.

Our framework to play with will be connected to the question:

How can a practice of resilient movement between inner, personal and outer, socio-political states been established in ongoing transformational processes?

We invite you as you may be working or interested in transformational fields, community work, social justice movements or are connected to any form of activism or related topics. Our space is for you to dive into topics within your own field—overworking, limited time and space, stress, confusion, overwhelm, and conflict. We want to explore your challenges creatively and through embodied practice.

    The Idea of the Lab:

The somatic perspective will invite you to rather focus on your topics from the inside than from the outside. At the same time the artistic practice will help us to bring the inside out. So the methodological question we want to explore is: How can the inside and outside meet through combined artistic and somatic practice?

The subskin_lab exists from your personal perspective, as well as your lived knowledge and experiences of your activist work. Sharing and exploring this cognitive, emotional, and physical knowledge in an intersubjective space with other people of social change opens up a new form of knowledge gaining that harbours resilient impact and power of action.

We are not willing to open a space that circulates around itself. Somatic and artistic approaches are inherently political—they are subversive in both directions: inside and outside. Therefore, our key message is: Inside and outside are layers of the same skin. The skin is where inside and outside meet and where our research approach locates itself.
